Why Independence?

 Children as young as one years old have a natural drive to do things and learn things for themselves. This desire for independence is why you hear many young children cry out "let me do it! I want to do it!”

Our job as adults is to help children slowly achieve this independence, but also to help build focus. The first place we begin to set up your home is by setting up a playroom. Imagine a beautiful and organized playroom - where toys are put back properly - and an art shelf they clean up themselves! If you want to take it further, imagine a kitchen that allows your child to make their own snacks, and a living room that allows them to turn on the lights without needing a chair to stand on!

At Montessori with Lauren, I will first help you to create your own unique playroom by doing a detailed consultation where we will discuss your vision and goals for you home and child. During our initial in home visit, we will work together to purchase materials - such as baskets, trays, and shelving- and during our second visit, to set up the playroom and art space to your comfort level.
